This 30-page document, available in English, is intended for community leaders, public health professionals, environmental health specialists, as well as workers and provides a framework for the development of a disaster response plan. Based on lessons learned from communities that have experienced such disasters, this guide contains information to help communities prepare for and recover more quickly from the increased solid waste generated by a natural disaster. Included in this module are the following: federal, state and local resources available to help, ways in which communities can speed recovery and reduce costs, plan for managing disaster debris, and case studies.
