Medical and exposure histories of 4 000 cancer patients hospitalized in the Montréal area were compared to those of a referent group drawn from the general population. The results indicate an elevated lung cancer risk for workers exposed to nickel, silica, wood dust, and mineral spirits, an elevated bladder cancer risk for workers exposed to synthetic fibres, mineral spirits, and cutting oils, and an elevated stomach cancer risk for workers exposed to gasoline and hydraulic fluids.
