It is intended for advanced level health care providers to help aid them in the evaluation of potentially exposed patients. This case study provides information related to at risk populations, exposure pathways, physiologic effects, therapy, radon detection and abatement, as well as workplace and residential standards and regulations of radon exposure. Upon completion of this case study the participant should be able to discuss the major exposure route for radon, describe two potential environmental and occupational sources of exposure to radon, state two reasons why radon is a health hazard, describe three factors that contribute to radon toxicity, identify evaluation and treatment protocols for persons exposed to radon, and list two sources of information on radon.
