This WHO module uses a training method based on learning by problem-solving to facilitate the understanding of the antimalarial combination therapies and formulation of treatment policies in different epidemiological situations. The underlying principle is that learners who are actively involved through a series of group excercises and discussions learn more and better than those who simply sit and listen to a single person talking for long periods of time. The module is adressed to health personnel responsible for malaria control at national and sub-national levels of the health care system who often face the challenges of increasing resistance to antimalarial drugs and policy changes. It requires some basic knowledge of malarial case management, parasitology and general epidemiology. The module consists of two parts: the Learner's guide; and the Tutor's guide.
