Better water resources management, spurred by scarcity and climate change, requires good hydrological data. Much of Africa has poor historical data on river flows limiting the ability to plan effectively. It is for this reason that the training manual was developed focusing on hydrological prediction in ungauged poorly gauged or data scarce basins in Africa. The tools allow water resources to be assessed from a variety of data sources. The material is targeted at water professionals and includes models. The development of the materials was led by WATERnet in collaboration with Cap-Net, TU-Delft, University of Dar es Salaam, UNESCO-IHE and University of Botswana. The authors of the manual are T.A. Bogaard; S. Mkhandi; B.P. Parida and H.C. Winsemius.
