The interpretation of the results of these analyses determines which substances are present at high concentrations and in which activity sectors. This information has been compiled for members of the review committee of the standards of the Regulation respecting occupational health and safety (ROHS), the CSST, the health network, as well as joint sector-based associations. This study has led to a series of documents being produced that enable interested people to establish regulatory, strategic and operational priorities, while identifying potential research priorities. It is part of a process to monitor and identify substances that should be the subject of research or of measures to control worker exposure. As the request of the CSST, the researchers will produce provincial indicators as comparable as possible for Québec, British Columbia and Ontario, including characteristics of the dead workers and the injuries compensated. The indicators resulting from this research will allow the comparison of the risks of death in seven activity sectors. They will be useful for determining the effectiveness of prevention measures and for improving the CSST's programs.
